JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify quality oriented process improvement initiatives and technological advancements; identify, plan, lead, and execute research and development activities across all Graniterock products lines including but not limited to Cold-In-Place (CIR) Recycling, Hot Mix Asphalt, Warm Mix Asphalt, Concrete, and/or Aggregates. Perform lab and field tests of various construction materials, maintain accurate documentation and communicate results. Work in alignment with Graniterock Safe Work Practices, Core Purpose, Values, and Objectives, and support "One Company" principles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, or equivalent years of relevant work experience
SKILLS: Strong organizational skills; ability to work independently and within teams; solid basic math skills and ability to use MS office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel to report data. Ability to set up productive experiments utilizing the scientific method. Small group presentation/training skills.
EXPERIENCE: Construction experience and some concrete, hot mix asphalt, aggregates, asphalt binder testing experience. Familiarity with Caltrans test methods and specifications, familiarity with AASHTO and/or ASTM test methods
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Master's of Science Degree in engineering, chemistry, or related topic
SKILLS: Ability to communicate ongoing progress of projects and change direction and reprioritize as needed. Ability to develop an annual budget, cultivate understanding of concepts, process methods and protocols. Outside the box critical thinking skills.
EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in lab testing or academic laboratory experience in a field involving precise testing methods.Some experience in HMA Mix Design and testing, asphalt plant and paving operations experience desired.
OTHER COMMENTS: Must be able to lift 40 lb. samples and be available to work nights or weekends as needed. Must have valid CA Driver's License and clean driving record
