ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Product Development Engineer will report directly to the New Product Development Manager. This position is intended for an engineer with a mechanical engineering background. The Product Development Engineer is responsible for the following.
• Collaborate within a team of product engineers with mechanical, electrical, and software specialties to continue innovating Seakeeper’s core technologies in order to deliver new products with challenging expectations in a timely manner
• Develop part drawings, assembly drawings, and models in SolidWorks.
• Preform necessary engineering calculations to support design decisions
• Understand and manage a large amount of detailed information while producing drawings on schedule for multiple projects.
• Take a hands on development approach with prototype testing and validation when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited institution. They must also have a strong applied design background with 1-3 years of experience. They must have 2+ full years of applied 3D modeling and 2D machine drawing experience with one of the major software packages on the market. This should include complex part modeling, working with large assemblies, and creating detailed drawings. Engineers with less than 1 year of experience must have strong collegiate design experience in addition to their senior design project and a minimum 3.2 GPA. This could come in the form of an intercollegiate engineering competition such as SAE Mini Baja, a summer internship, or a co-op opportunity. Qualified applicant must be professional, responsive, resourceful, flexible, and maintain a positive work attitude. Must be able to work independently, maintain filing systems and basic databases, gather and analyze information skillfully, and the ability to make sound, timely, and accurate judgment while supporting reasoning for decisions.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Electro-mechanical and hydraulic design experience is a plus. Experience with Finite Element Analysis is a plus. 3D modeling experience with Solidworks is preferred. Experience with GD&T, and designing high tolerance components and systems preferred. Strong knowledge of machining processes will greatly benefit the candidate. Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus. Excellent writing skills including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation are always preferred as well.
