We are currently recruiting for a Product Development Engineer in our Tabletop group.
POSITION SUMMARY
Design, develop and commercialize innovative new products for disposable/semi-disposable tableware. Develop and implement improvements to the product production (converting) process. Oversee the development of new product prototypes. Support the scale up new products in manufacturing. Create business opportunities by understanding consumer needs and developing innovative solutions to meet them. Protect knowledge developed with invention disclosures and patent applications for relevant technologies.
This position reports to the Director, Research and Development – Tabletop and is located in Neenah, Wisconsin.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Five or more years experience in polymer processing technologies.
- Knowledge of thermoforming / injection molding (plastic part design, materials, tooling, manufacturing methods / practices preferred).
- Proficient in the use of 2D/3D design and FEA product modeling.
- Experience delivering commercially viable product solutions to business teams.
-Available to travel up to 30%, including occasional international travel.
KNOWLEDGE - SKILLS - ABILITIES
-Ability to promote an effective team environment and work on cross-functional teams co-located in different locations.
-Ability to define a project timeline and lead the cross-functional team in working to meet the timeline.
-Demonstrated mechanical ability.
-Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, both technical / non-technical.
-Ability to manage relationships with outside vendors (design / manufacture).
-Experience working with Asian part manufacturers.
-Experience directing the work of project team members / technicians.
