We are UPG Aquatic, a division of Spectrum Brands and one of the world's largest manufacturers of aquarium products with such brands as Tetra, Marineland and Instant Ocean, Jungle and Perfecto. Currently, we have the following position available:
Quality Assurance Engineer
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop the company's suppliers and supplier's processes to prevent defects and allow us to provide our customers with quality products.
Responsible for helping our internal customers such as Sourcing, Engineering and
Manufacturing meet their objectives in acquiring high quality material (parts, sub-systems, outsourced products, etc.) from our suppliers.
Responsible for quality improvement issues related primarily to sourced products and components.
Responsible for quality related to vendors and suppliers of materials, products or services used in development or manufacture; assesses potential new suppliers; works with suppliers to develop and improve entire supply chain.
Approximately 15-25% travel to suppliers and other affiliates required, primarily within the US and to Southern China.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with related field experience of 3-5 years.
Current knowledge of and experience with quality improvement techniques, including SPC, PDCA and structured problem solving techniques.
Demonstration of team leadership and to be a driver of change agent methodologies and various communication tools.
Excellent problem solving skills, including previous experience leading problem solving groups.
Experience managing projects and use of related project management software.
Excellent understanding of data analysis tools including Excel and MS Access.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are fundamental.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and communications skills.
