JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Laboratory and field testing of asphalt materials and test data analysis; providing test data/analysis to the materials production branch, paving contractor, customer, and recommend and implement improvements to the production process. Support the materials branches and paving contractors in performing QC/QA projects including pavement compaction testing and aiding the paving crew in achieving pavement density/compaction. Must be safety conscious and promote a safe working environment. Complete project specification review. Work in alignment with Graniterock Safe Work Practices, Core Purpose, Values, and Objectives, and support "One Company" principles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
SKILLS: Strong organizational skills; ability to work independently and within teams; solid basic math skills and ability to use MS office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel to report data. Small group presentation/training skills.
EXPERIENCE: Construction experience and some asphalt materials knowledge.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's of Science Degree (B.S.)
SKILLS: Proficient in Hveem and Marshall mix design, and aggregates and HMA quality control testing and statistical process control. Proficient in MS Office products to statistically analyze and present or report data. Able to lead technical training sessions for internal and external customers.Have current Caltrans certifications for testing aggregate and HMA materials or capability to obtain the certification within 3 month of employment.
EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in lab testing or academic laboratory experience in a field involving precise testing methods.Some experience in HMA Mix Design and testing, asphalt plant and paving operations experience desired.
OTHER COMMENTS: Must be able to lift 40 lb. samples and be available to work nights or weekends as needed. Must have valid CA Driver's License and clean driving record.
