Tekla BIM/Specialist - North Vancouver

We are seeking a Tekla/BIM Specialist to join our team in one of our offices in North America, preferably in North Vancouver office.



ROLE SUMMARY



Reporting to the Head of Section, you are an experienced Tekla specialist whom will be accountable for developing and leading our Building Information Models team to work on a wide range of structures globally. You will be accountable for BIM expertise and BIM delivery on multi-disciplinary projects.



In addition, you will be the key person for the further development and the ongoing implementation of Tekla for, but not limited to, bridge design in COWI North America, and be the leader of the CAD specialist taking part into reaching our strategic goals for use of 3D CAD and BIM.





Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


•Prepare and maintain Tekla models to allow simultaneous production by a large multi-person team without loss of productivity;
•Develop Models and Bridge specific templates with coordination and support from COWI Tekla network;
•Regularly review Tekla model content, checking for errors and inconsistencies in the work of others, keeping files as small as possible through a systematic management process;
•Create and own the multidisciplinary spatial coordination responsibility for bridge projects in 3D, taking into account coordination with structural, architectural, and civil components;
•Create modelling protocols to allow interoperability between the Tekla content and the analysis and visualization software and to other BIM software such as Microstation, Revit, Civil 3D, Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, etc.;
•Customise intelligent components to optimise production of the entire bridge team. Having API knowledge for specifying or programming plug ins is an advantage;
•Manage Tekla licenses;
•Run BIM kick-off meetings and develop BIM execution plans at the start of the project;
•Use Navisworks to coordinate BIM model with all design team members from other trades and demonstrate conflicts, which must be resolved. Run BIM coordination meetings with other BIM technicians to resolve conflicts as much as possible;
•Be responsible for BIM file management for multiple projects, including file naming, versioning, viewports, paper sheet setup, scripts, etc, along with management of file transfer protocols in an organized fashion; and,
•Liaison with IT support staff.



QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED


•Relevant education as an engineer, technician or construction architect;
•You have a desire to build up an efficient Tekla group from inception;
•Three year minimum experience in the production of coordinated Building Information Models;
•Expertise with Tekla, as demonstrated by sophisticated use of software beyond just modelling 3D content;
•Familiarity with the interoperability between Tekla and other software programs;
•Three year minimum experience in 3D design and coordination of multiple trades;
•Ability and willingness to learn new programs as required by individual projects;
•Ability to lead and manage a team effectively; and,
•A confident communicator and presenter, as well as, possess excellent written and spoken English.
