Borla Performance is seeking a talented, experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer for our Johnson City, TN location.
The ideal candidate will have these responsibilities:
Implement methodologies to reduce waste and improve work force utilization
Develop process flows, assembly methodologies, and value stream maps
Improve plant layout, production line and cost estimating processes
Reduce equipment set-up times and cycle times
Apply Six Sigma methodologies and SPC; certification not required
Prepare and maintain detailed layouts to support Lean Manufacturing initiatives
Coordinate manufacturing product launches including success metrics and trial runs
Offer Engineering training and guidance to other team members
Lead Engineering Design Reviews to support APQP, DFMEA and PFMEA processes
Develop product and process specifications
Create, maintain and support BOM, ECO and PPAP documentation
Effectively support the production floor with urgent issues
Collaborate with Production, Planning, Quality, Warehouse and other departments
Provide Engineering Design Change recommendations to reduce costs
Investigate defective or damaged parts to determine root cause
Initiate root cause analysis and implement mistake proofing techniques
Engineer simple and complex jigs, gages and fixtures to support production
Employ Six Sigma principles to address issues, improve quality, increase efficiency
Contribute to IATF 16949:2016 Quality and Lean Manufacturing activities
Miscellaneous duties as assigned
Necessary skills:
Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field
8+ years automotive manufacturing engineering experience
Strong SolidWorks experience with fluency in GD&T and tolerance stacks
Solid understanding and ability to utilize Six Sigma, Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk
Experienced with selection, modification and arrangement of production equipment
Metal fabrication background; T304 stainless steel stamping, tube bending is a plus
Effective time management with ability to support multiple activities simultaneously
Experienced working with Mig And Tig welding processes
Fluent with MS Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
Prolonged walking, stooping, bending and sitting
Personable as befitting a representative of Borla
