Ball State University is accepting applications for a professional position as Director of Facilities Operations available May 8, 2017.
The Facilities Planning and Management department oversees the maintenance of all academic and administrative buildings and infrastructure on the campus of Ball State University. This position directs skilled trades including carpenters, electronics, electricians, environmental control, HVAC, locksmiths, painters, plumbers, heat plant operators, and geothermal energy station operators. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Facilities Planning and Management and is a member of the department’s senior staff management team.
Major responsibilities: Direct and manage all maintenance operation activities for all Academic and Administrative facilities, steam and condensate central plant, geothermal hot and chilled water central plants, all infrastructure systems.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or other related field from an accredited college or university with proven mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Ten years of experience related to facilities maintenance operation; experience managing bargaining unit employees; experience with the production and distribution of steam and chilled water; experience in budgeting and budget requests; knowledge and experience with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems; Knowledge and experience with OSHA, IDEM, and EPA regulations, fire and safety codes, uniform building codes, and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes.
Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; Experience in a related position with a higher education institution; Registration: Professional Engineer in the State of Indiana or obtain a license through “comity” within a reasonable amount of time.
