The Department of Physics and Astronomy (http://www.physics.uiowa.edu/) at the University of Iowa seeks a dynamic individual to serve as our Quality Assurance Manager. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining quality standards, methods, instructions and planning on spaceflight projects and service centers. Provides technical direction to the inspection testing performed on electronic components, assemblies and products. This position will manage the Quality Management System (QMS) for Spaceflight Instrumentation projects and is responsible for determining the effectiveness of the QMS and process and control systems for ISO9001. This position performs NASA certified inspections to ensure compliance on projects and processes.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering or Quality Assurance or equivalent combination of education and experience; three-five years’ experience in quality assurance and quality management; minimum one year of experience implementing and managing an ISO9001 quality system; strong written and verbal communication skills; and demonstrated working knowledge of LEAN and Six Sigma Principles
