Position Summary

The Energy Program Engineer reports to the Director of Energy Management, and has strong technical understanding of building systems and operations, and is well-versed in industry-accepted energy/sustainability metrics. Primary function is to provide programmatic support to operating portfolio in alignment with Forest City's Energy & Sustainability agenda by collecting/maintaining property building data, identifying/analyzing energy and water efficiency opportunities, managing existing programs (including LED lighting, real-time energy monitoring platform, demand/load response), and supporting property teams with best practice operations.

Essential Job Functions

1. Conducts portfolio-wide energy audits, inventories key building systems, and identifies high-return efficiency opportunities; supports Director of Energy Management in business case development for capital upgrades; tracks department-led capital upgrades. (30%)

2. Leverages data analytics to optimize deployment of existing technology platforms (including LED lighting, controls/BMS, real-time monitoring, demand/load response, smart irrigation, etc.) throughout the operating portfolio; manages existing vendor relationships; develops/streamlines processes for deployment of new technology initiatives; tracks/reports on program KPIs; provides project management support to property teams. (50%)

3. Assists Integrative Design Services in engaging property teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues to increase energy/water efficiency. (10%)

4. Provides as-needed technical support for departmental initiatives, including new development projects and vetting new technologies. (10%)

Education

This position requires a(n) Undergraduate (Bachelor) Degree in Engineering
