Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for a Vehicle Safety Engineer at our Franklin, Tennessee location.
Posting Description:
Automotive engineering position with the Product Safety Team. Qualified candidate will work in the area of vehicle safety focusing on Nissans safety strategy, industry trends and field data analysis. The position is cross-functional and cross-cultural, working with engineering design, testing, manufacturing, product planning, marketing, government affairs, and technical publications in the Americas and Japan.
Job Functions:
Conduct digital design reviews and in-person audits of pre-production vehicles. Activities are specifically focused on review of safety systems and components.
Evaluate advanced safety features and consult with Marketing, Communications and Legal teams on system functions.
Monitor and analyze vehicle safety and testing trends in the industry, including NHTSA, IIHS and Consumer Reports.
Support communications with external organizations such as NHTSA and IIHS, as well as media requests
Support the product safety team with field issue investigations and analysis
Review documents, publications, advertising and other materials (Owners Manuals, technical publications, brochures, etc.) for accuracy and clarity
Analyze vehicle safety data/statistics and trends; Prepare related documentation, presentations, and trend reports
Become certified as a Child Passenger Safety Technician; Participate in child restraint vehicle fit evaluations
Monitor and analyze regulatory trends (including FMVSS process) in vehicle safety, both for the U.S. and other Americas markets
Support participation in SAE committees and other industry working groups
Support implementation of strategic projects sponsored by the department; Both lead and participate in special projects and programs within the team
Understand & provide technical and strategic information within the company on variety of vehicle safety systems and topics, including child safety, LATCH, air bags, crash test performance, and crash avoidance technologies.
Primary Skills: Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering (ME/EE/Aero preferred)
Minimum of five years relevant experience including experience in an automotive engineering environment and/or automotive product planning
Knowledge of vehicle mech
