Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for an OBD Calibration Engineer at our Farmington Hills, MI location.
The OBD Calibration Engineer will be responsible for numerous powertrain OBD certification activities related to ARB, as well as general OBD development activities. These will include OBD certification requirements, compliance, advanced development of monitor strategies, calibration of OBD monitors affecting false MIL or false pass performance, in-use monitoring rates, OBD performance in extreme environment conditions (summer, winter, high altitude, etc…).
This work will require some experience with Nissan OBD calibration activities, including emissions development, on board diagnostics (OBD), and/or engine dynamometer development.
In addition, this candidate could be called on to support manufacturing activities for all Powertrain- related OBD matters.
The OBD Calibration Engineer must:
· Be able to explain Nissan’s unique OBD certification strategy to ARB such that ARB understands that the Nissan proposal meets the CARB OBD2 Certification legal requirements outlined in CCR Title 13 1968.2.
· Be able to explain Nissan’s unique OBD certification strategy and historical performance to ARB such that ARB understands that the Nissan proposal meets the CARB OBD2 Compliance legal requirements outlined in CCR Title 13 1968.5.
· Understand legal requirements of OBD2 for certification and be able to judge Nissan’s technical proposal from engine, (GDI, diesel, HEV) and transmission in light of these legal requirements.
· Understand Nissan’s OBD monitor concept, design and calibration.
· Understand Nissan’s specific powertrain control strategy and emissions technology.
· Support OBD job requests from NTC related to OBD performance road testing, compliance road testing, in-use monitor rate development, false pass and false mil prevention related testing activities.
Primary Skills: OBD Certification/Calibration experience is essential.
