We are seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer with strong communication and analytical skills along with a good understanding of lean manufacturing processes. If this describes you, come join our team at our Jackson, Minnesota location.

Our Jackson location manufactures the AGCO Challenger brand. The Challenger is our fastest-growing equipment brand in North America. Its tractor product line includes both wheeled and track-type designs, CAT engines, as well as innovative suspension systems to meet the varying needs of professional farmers around the world. The Challenger MT875B track tractor holds a world record by cultivating 1,590 acres (644 ha and 14 m) in 24 hours with a single operator pulling a 46-foot-wide disc.

As the Senior Tooling Engineer, you will conduct manufacturing engineering assignments in conformity with sound engineering principles, policies, and controls to develop new methods, tooling, and process designs to resolve quality and cost issues in manufacturing.

Summary of Duties:
•Directs and coordinates prototype/new product and production activities within the Jackson manufacturing facility to assure all functional areas are involved to the extent specified in the product development procedure. These duties specifically focusing on design interaction for improvements of manufacturability, cost, and quality of current/future designs.
• Research and development of new processes and manufacturing systems to improve quality, productivity, and reduce operating costs.
•Responsible for all aspects of project management on assigned projects including but not limited to the following: schedule development, schedule adherence, status monitoring, and budget compliance.
• Responsible for the design/support of fabrication, welding, and assembly tooling within a high-mix, low-volume environment using knowledge of: GD&T dimensioning techniques, press brake forming, machining & controller understanding for decision making relative to holding tight tolerances, weld sequencing, applications found in automated/robotic environment, system carts, racking design, special tool design, and applications found in automated assembly environment .
•Provide leadership, expertise, and support in all aspects of tool making or tool assembly operations including: technical assistance, training, new equipment justification, plant floor layout, lean opportunities, tool specification.
• Responsible for tools to assist with manufacturing assurance – including tooling, gaging, and fixtures as relative to part manufacturing quality.
• Keep abreast of new developments pertinent to one’s job responsibilities through contacts with professional societies, educational centers, tool and machine manufacturers, technical papers, journals, periodicals and other sources.

Education/Certifications:
•Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year accredited school in Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
•Technical related software proficiency (preference to MS Office -- Excel, Outlook, Word, MS project; CAD -- Inventor, Unigraphics, ProE; CAM software –- TruBend, Cincinnati Bend Simulation Module; Robot programming -- Robot studio, Weldpro, DTPS, Karel, Allen Bradley Plc5, Rs Logix 500etc; Simulation software -- 3DCS, ALGOR, DELMIA).
•Preference to professional certifications within engineering field or specific manufacturers on robotic and/or controls engineering software.

Experience:
•A minimum of four years of engineering experience in a machine design or tooling role to acquire sufficient background and technique to perform job responsibilities (preference given to advance automated machine/tooling design and controls integration).
•Experience in implementing automation within a tooling environment (robotics, semi-auto fixturing, gripper design, press fixturing). Preference given to proficiency at PLC programming.
•Experience using and implementing GD&T within a tooling environment (manufacturing/quality datums vs fuctional datums structures, use of measurement equipment like FARO Arms, mics, dial bores, coordinate measuring systems).
•Experience the build/assembly of fabrication and weld fixturing (including but not limited to the operation of lathe, mill, torque tools, and hookup of hydraulics, pnuematics, sensors, power, etc).
•Experience using FEA data in calculation of stress points for optimization (and function) of the design.
•Project management for new equipment installations and new product development/introduction.
•Knowledge of agricultural parts, machinery and equipment helpful.
