We are expanding our engineering department and have an opportunity for a real-time Software Test Engineering Professional. The position requires a well-rounded, disciplined professional with effective communication skills. We seek a professional who is excited about working on renewable energy technology, focusing on developing state-of-the-art testing and capabilities for cutting-edge utility scale wind turbine generators.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Software Engineering, Electrical Systems Engineering, and Product Testing groups
• Write test procedures and plans for software and electronic hardware systems
• Develop and evangelize embedded software test process and software quality assurance practices within the organization
• Procure or produce the software, tools, process, and methods suitable for automated testing
• Manage associated capital equipment and laboratory space
• Estimate and plan work
• Create and propose software quality metrics
• Execute Test Plans and document results by producing reports and communicating metrics
• Mentor/lead others in all the aforementioned areas of responsibility
• This position may also be asked to design, code, test, and integrate Wind Turbine Application Software
Required Experience and Technical skills:
• Able to read electrical schematics
• High interest and ability in the Quality Assurance of Real-Time Embedded Software Systems
• Ability to read and write C language programs
• Strong command of testing knowledge
• Scripting languages such as Python, LabView, Matlab
• Noteworthy experience and accomplishments in the mentioned responsibilities
• Competency with oscilloscopes and/or logic analyzers
• Familiarity with testing application and basic software, including serial communications
• Mature configuration management practices
In addition, experience with the following is strongly preferred:
• Leadership capability
• SPI: Software Process Improvement
• SQA: Software Quality Assurance
• Automated testing
• HIL equipment
• PLC hardware and programming
• Source control tools
• Serial Communication protocols
• Electronic Hardware Design
Minimum Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical or software engineering
• Advanced training and knowledge in software testing
• Five to ten years of experience in the related field
• Ability to plan and execute the outlined responsibilities
• Ability to travel 50% in the first year, with a reduction to 25% in following years
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters Degree
• Experience with power conversion and generation systems
• Familiarity with software development approaches such as Agile, Scrum, CMMI
• Exposure to TI DSP, ADI SHARC and Xilinx FPGA development environments
